As a kid I used to lay in the loft of our old tin barn and listen for the rainstorm that was approaching. Thunder would resound through the trees as the rain marched up the hollow. One moment the birds were chirping and crickets chittering. The next -SILENCE. Then thunder ripped the hillside and rain came down in sheets. Wonderful time to be a boy! Years later I wrote a poem about thunder breaking in on silence that won 1st place in one of the poetry awards. I've included it in this book. Read & Enjoy! Genre: Fiction/Poetry/Essays.
